It's very seldom a matter of "can't." Unless this is some little Mom and Pop firm that's staying alive by the skin of its teeth, it's "won't," and pay is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to employee non-valuation. If you interview with other companies, you will most likely find that there are many other signs that you are not valued that you haven't taken note of because you haven't been making comparisons.
