What Craig (and everyone else) said.

And yeah, refurbs are great (from almost any company) because they get
personalized testing/care before being offered for sale. This goes for
monitors, too.

And while I have long chosen Dell monitors, I still prefer my ASUS laptop
over any of their offerings. And when it came time to replace my HP, I
simply went over to Best Buy and looked at models from Toshiba, Lenovo and
ASUS. (My old Toshibas and one ThinkPad were very rugged and endured a LOT;
the ThinkPad still runs Windows 2000 just fine). In the end,

I went with the ASUS because of my prior experience with their desktop
motherboards. That, and it had all of the specs I wantedâespecially the
requisite HDMI A/V output. In this way the laptop is my tech writing center
during the day, and the cornerstone of my home entertainment system at
night... no Roku, ChromeCast, etc., required.
