I'm in Colorado and during a job search in 2013 was looking around at
various certification programs available online for relatively low cost
(less than $1000). I took AIIM's Social Media Governance course (for SGMp
certification). I found the course to be well-produced and the examples
helpful. Whether it was useful, especially in assisting with a job search,
is still debatable. Noone has really keyed in on that certification listed
on my resume or my CA-AM certification from ASAP either (which I did at the
same time). What does interest them typically is my combined years of tech
writing/comms management experience plus the fact that I have been a
certified as a project manager (PMP) for several years. That said, I don't
regret taking the AIIM course.
