Huge question, Chris.

Solutions range in scope from a pea shooter to a space cannon, and comparable price.

Traditional advice is to not even think about tools until you know exactly what you want to do.

Couple things to consider:

1. CCMS (tech pubs) vs. CMS (typically web) vs. HAT.

2. Version control vs. none. (You usually don't need this unless you have 2 or more people working on the same file at once.)

If you're going into an interview in 5 minutes and you just want a name so you can get the job, go with MadCap Flare. Based on the bare information you've given so far, it will do what you need. If it's primarily you, no need for source control.

Anything more complicated, you've got some research ahead. Not an easy thing to answer in 5 minutes.

Good luck,

Steve

If you were to recommend a CMS tool, which one would it and why?

Client wants to repurpose chunks of text in different docs, online, etc.

Thanks
