I mostly agree with the sentiments. But given that the reason for breaking the rules is clarity, I am surprised at the example for rule 2.
"There are 4 planets that have rings around them."

The rules we are asked to break imply that brevity contributes to clarity.
"4 planets have rings around them" seems far better.

But now I don't like the numeral, because it begins a sentence and that seems awkward and possibly misleading.
