I've been searching for a solution to how my dishwasher stops mid-cycle and
blinks its "Clean" light in a pattern of 7 with a pause. I was surprised
that people wrote on forums that the light was "flashing".

To me, a flash is a one-off moment. (Heh. One-off!)

A blink is repetitive, and could be in a pattern.

A pulse is slow rising/falling.

Thanks to Peter and Peter for giving me something to keep in mind when and
if I need to describe light patterns.
