I used to try, when I needed something, and then give up after a few variations and just post a new question.
Somebody would immediately respond with a link to an earlier thread.
I'd say "How did you find that? I tried XXXXXXX, YYYYYY, ZZZZZZZ and came up empty".
They'd reply with a Google search that worked just fine.
Eventually, I caught on.
It's not so much that it failed to find a given string. It would find 1100 hits and didn't have a good way to refine the search.
Google.... just worked. Still does.
