Whirlers,

I'm in the market for a refurbished laptop running Windows 8.1, or an OS that is easily upgradeable to 8.1.

I'm looking to buy refurbished rather than new because refurbished is much cheaper.

There is a computer shop nearby that sells used laptops, but their inventory isn't online and can't be easily checked.

I could buy something from Amazon, or LaptopOutlet.com, or any one of a number of vendors.

Is there an online vendor I should avoid?

Which laptop brand should I aim for?

Is there a laptop brand I should avoid?

Many thanks for your help, folks.
