Well, they've started already.
Have done so for a while with something that distinctly smells like a
pilot scheme with Office 365.
I anticipate the rest will follow as soon as that proves successful as
it will solve a lot of their `pirating' and licensing issues.
Software as a service is a successful model and about the only way they
are going to survive long-term.
I'm quite happy with LibreOffice and have been since the original fork
from the Oracle project.
I haven't checked out Apache's Open version yet.
Really haven't needed to.
