trying to find cases where manufacturers(or software company) is fined or cases brought against them for their inadequate or simply bad documentation because there is incidents or customer dissatisfaction involved. Are you aware of cases like this?

Not too long ago I attended a presentation at STC-Berkeley on this subject:
http://www.stc-berkeley.org/MonthlyMeeting/october2012_meeting/meeting_details.shtml.
Who knew there was a field called "forensic linguistics" ?!

It was a great topic, and I forwarded this thread to the presenter, Joe
Devney, and asked if he could help point us in the right direction.

Joe suggested a book, "Fighting over Words: Language and Civil Law Cases" by
Roger Shuy
(http://www.stc-berkeley.org/MonthlyMeeting/october2012_meeting/meeting_details.shtml),
and said that there's a chapter about product liability cases that goes into
great detail about documentation analysis.

Also, Joe said that he's got an article in the February issue of STC's
Intercom magazine (which we'd expect to be published by now, but apparently
is not), and at the end he includes a list of resources.

HTH, and happy googling for "forensic linguistics" (or even searching for it
in Amazon),
