I know that was meant as a joke, but I find its overtones and connotations
quite distressing. Yes, loud music (of any kind) can be very irritating and
distracting, especially when nearing a deadline. And the people who turn
the volume all the way up are very inconsiderate and rude. (I favor minimal
background noise, personally.) But singling out "rap" and calling the
people who listen to it "pests" and "vermin"--that's something else.
