"After all, they are just selling a product - you. As such, they shift
wheat and chaff by buzz words and key word searches on resumes."

I have direct experience of this, for my current role the job spec
apparently mentioned 'Javascript' somehow and on my first contact with the
recruiter they were very dismissive as I didn't seem to have any experience
of 'Javascript' - at this point it was obvious that they didn't have any
idea what Javascript was or how it related to tech writing.

I really wanted this job so persuaded him to submit my CV anyway, and to
his credit, when they offered me the role within minutes of the interview
ending he congratulated me on my persistence and apologised for his haste
in ruling me out.
