Based on the little I learned about QA at my last post, I'd think that you
would need to be highly experienced with the programs that you'll be
managing QA for. You might get the same impression from what Margaret said.
The QA Analysts wrote and ran test scripts for all the programs and those
that they had impact upon when they did the testing.

I guess it might depend on the size and skill of the staff, but where I
was, the Manager oversaw the testing, she didn't just assign people and
monitor progress.

OTOH, from the variety of comments you've received, it's possible that I
saw only a narrow segment of QA Management. So I'll be interested to see
more comments.
