ISO/IEC 27001 provides standards for information security management used by
non-federal organizations. Certification is accomplished through an
Accredited Certification Body; in the US, that is the ANSI-ASQ National
Accreditation Board. CERT (Community Emergency Response Teams) are a
function of FEMA. US-CERT (Computer Emergency Readiness Team) is a function
of the Department of Homeland Security.

Federal computer security guidance and certification is managed by the
Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002, which delegated
responsibility for standards and compliance to the National Institutes of
Science and Technology (NIST). NIST publishes Federal Information Processing
Standards (FIPS); FIPS 200 identifies minimum security standards for the
security of federal information systems.

Subject: Information security compliance

Anyone know the name / acronym of the organization that provides information
security compliance standards that companies try to comply with?

It's on the tip of my tongue, but I can't quite catch it (something like
OSHA, but not...)

Thanks,
Matt
