When first starting out, I got an interview and a job based on a bad resume for a wrong position. (This was when actual /people/ looked at every resume.) "Look, I wanted to talk to you in spite of your dreadful resume because I've notice that people like you seem to be able to do this kind of work. You ARE good at crossword puzzles, aren't you?" His understanding was that people who could do crosswords would fit well into a software environment.

We won't delve too far into my ability to do what I call "Zen" crosswords that often has annoyed my friends, but here's a hint. "You're doing my crosswords. I told you not to." "Oh, sorry, but I've not written a thing in your crossword book." "THAT'S EVEN WORSE!"
