Ever wonder how the auto manufacturers manage to have an owner's manual in
the glovebox of every car when they first show up on the dealer's lot? The
same way SW companies do. A lot of the manual content is based on design
specs and prototypes, and the final versions go to press without anyone
ever taking a draft and comparing it to a real car coming off the assembly
line.

The advantage automotive tech writers have over SW writers is that it's a
lot harder for the engineers to push through last minute changes one metal
is being cut and plastic is being molded.
