To add to what William stated and to tie into our professional more...

The company I work at recently announced in a company meeting that they
wanted to teach our customer service staff to write better, so that they
can write documentation.

Here's a short example of their current writing "style":

This enhancement introduces the capability to create product groups
comprising of a few selected loan products and setup separate interest
rates applicable specifically to those product groups. The loan interest
rates setup was also enhanced so that rates could be setup with
user-defined loan terms and a set of fixed as well as variable rates could
be stored simultaneously.

... a long way to go *sigh*....
