Hi Kari,

I too have a mixed background that makes perfect sense to me - and is all
useful for my job!

What I did was writing a summary on top of my resume that pointed out the
red thread. When applying for a specific job, I'd of course change my
resume, especially the summary in top, to fit the job in question. My
cover letter would contain examples on how my diverse experience would help
me accomplish specific tasks in my new job.

I second Milan's suggestion.
