Subject:Re: verb for "gaining followers on Facebook" ? From:"Monique Semp" <monique -dot- semp -at- earthlink -dot- net> To:<techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com> Date:Tue, 1 May 2012 11:58:30 -0700
But... none of these suggestions are one-word verbs that implicitly include
the rest of the phrase I included in the quotes: "gain a follower". They're
all replacements for the "gain" part, but then you still have to say what
was gained (or lured or seduced, etc.)
The analogy I have in my mind is that one could say, "he ingested food" or
"he ate" -- here "ate" is a one-word verb that describes "ingested food".
So, any suggestions that adhere to those requirements?
I'm thinking that there aren't any, but I was just wishful of a shorter way
to say "gain followers", which I believe is perfectly in keeping with
Facebook guidelines (with which I am already familiar).
