I hope I'm not just a hole in the ground. Sigh.

A beautiful metaphor. And while some tech writers are more like the mere hole in the ground variety, others are like German toilets, with a holding shelf that the dirt sits on so that it can be examined before the flush.

I have to apologize for being late to the party, but I had one of those moments while thinking how I'd explain a toilet.

I'm sure I wouldn't get hired.

Toilets work just like technical writers. Someone comes along and dumps a load of crap on them, and then expects them to magically clean it all up and make it presentable by the time the person dumping it has washed his hands of it.
