Yuck. I should disclaim that I didn't try InfraRecorder, but it was listed on the Open Disc education distro, which was IMO a good indicator. I've not needed to burn an ISO for a long time, that's what thumbdrives are for. :-)

Last time I checked, OpenDisc used their own installers for the stuff they bundle, so that might sidestep the bad one you mentioned.

And Infracorder also has a "portable" zip version, in addition to their normal installer, in case that can help bypass some of the problems you mention.

Or building from source, and ignore the installer, it is GPL: C++, using ATL + WTL, using Visual C++, and 2 external lib dependencies.
