The question is related to an entry made by the user that will lock in a particular radio frequency setting.

That would have helped in the beginning. There are so many reasons for grouping things and the grouping of countries can be based on geography, politics, telecom, or language. I never thought the grouping was based on radio frequency.

Australia and New Zealand have the same setting in this instance. It's not a drop down option; it's a coded command to be typed in and sent to the equipment.

This has been classic ... many of you ignored what the customer (me) asked for and instead redefined the problem in order to provide your solution for what you assumed the customer needed.

Not quite. We were guessing about your requirements. There is a reason that requirements analysis precedes application development. Many people asked for requirements and provided many options based on different requirement possibilities.

And now for a little related humor...

Cute. Clear requirements specifications would have helped in both the cartoon and here. Not just the customer requirements (a label for two countries that do not share an obvious relationship), but the application requirements (a label for a specific frequency shared by two countries).

Blaming the analyst ("many of you ignored what the customer (me) asked for") when the customer does not want to answer questions about requirements (ignored those questions) or consider various options ("and redefined the problem in order to provide your solution") based on assumptions about requirements ("for what you assumed the customer needed") does not point fault at the analyst.
