Hi Carla,
Australians could handle this, but New Zealanders might be a bit upset. Asia Pacific might be a better option, but that includes other Pacific islands, like Papua New Guinea and Fiji. I would list them separately.
Cheers

Subject: Question for writers in New Zealand and Australia
Our programmers are looking at having people type in and/or select a country for a specific software need. Right now they have defined the entry for your area as
"australia/nz".
(Other entries are "china," brazil," "russia," etc.)
Are there any cultural issues with the two countries being grouped together, and for the abbreviation to nz instead of New Zealand? (lowercase is also the programmers' choice, but that's another issue.)
I would like opinions from in-country experts as to whether this is fine, or if it is something they should avoid, and if so, for what reason.
Thanks for your input,
Carla
