"Drat" sounds better and is more emphatic than "God rot."

I love discussions that send me packing to my dictionary.
~1815 - a euphemistic shortening of a mild oath, "god rot"
I think the thought police might let you slide on this one, though the
never miss a chance to wallow in offense.

"Drat" is a sadly underused word.

Careful there.
Truly dedicated prudes (the Professionally Offended [tm]) would point out that it likely originated as one of those nonsense substitutes for a cuss word - in this case, "damn". Or even if it had entirely unrelated etymology, they'd assert that that was the modern intent, and they're offended on that basis.

Dang and dagnabit anyway!

Torches and pitchforks, m' man ... will come for you.
