Porrello, Leonard Porrello said,

"There's something that's been mentioned several times now by several
posters that has me wondering, namely that consultants should by definition
be good writers/communicators."

You understand that the problem isn't that consultants should be "good
writers/communicators." The problem is that too many hiring authorities get
bamboozled by the "sales pitch" of the consultant and don't realize until
too late that the consultant may be a good engineer, but he/she can't put
two good sentences together. So, the question is "Are you hiring them for
their engineering skills, or their communication skills?" In Andrew's case,
excellent engineering skills are required, but good communication skills are
also needed to keep the profit margin high enough to keep the company
solvent. In most cases, this isn't necessary. His company is an exception,
so what he needs is a method whereby he can improve the quality of their
writing without diminishing the caliber of their security audit or
increasing the hours necessary to complete their reports.

AND speaking of money, how come you people are spending so much time
blathering about education and PC when you should be hunkered down over your
keyboard banging out exceptionally clear copy......
