Hi everyone,

I am working on a template in Word 2007 for hospital publication. Because of the nature of the beast, so to speak, I MUST have full justification for all text (captions, text, references, etc.). In addition, all columns and lines must begin/end on the same top/bottom line for every page of the publication. This requires heavy use of hyphenation and manually adjusting the spacing/layout of every single article in the publication.

My question: Are there any tools out there that I can use to provide a more professional look and fix the inter-character spacing? Kerning doesn't seem to work in Word (I did apply it), and I am not sure if the condensed font spacing is really what I want.

Alternatively, what would be an easy to learn DTP SW other than word that could be used for handling such publications? Does anyone know if Publisher can give me better layout/design control?

Any thoughts/suggestions on these issues would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Deborah
