TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I'd just like to point out that despite LinkedIn's apparent 'back-peddling', they have not changed the default 'opted in' behaviour as of today (15 Aug). As far as I can tell, all they've done is remove people's names and photos from the initial ad that pops up in favour of a 'n number of your connections are following this advertiser' messgage That's a hotlink, and I suspect still lists your name and possibly photo if clicked on.
There's also quite a few other boxes in your settings you might want to go through one more time, as Bill mentions. There's a lot of stuff 'checked' that you might not want, or might thing was 'unchecked' previously.
Many thanks to Monique and Bill for the heads up on this one!
:)
