Interesting thread. For me, the best new thing is 'rich media'. And by that I mean the ability to add elements to your documents, there were impossible to add before, when the docs were printed. Starting from such simple things as hyperlinks, talkbacks/comments (on wiki-like contents), 3D, animation, video demos, embedded applications and so on. New technology allows us to provide info in the most suitable way to the content type. Just as an example, to introduce new features, you add a demo, to install the product, you use animation and so on, all in one manual.
