Now that all the people who work for big companies with enormous
budgets have criticized my attempt to be helpful, I'm glad to see at
least *one* person chime in about how a contest might be useful for
smaller companies. And I've had at least two gigs at companies that
needed design work but had minimal budgets for it (for example, for a
conference logo that needed much less brand identity than a product or
company logo).
And yes, I did consider the fact that people are being asked to do
submit unpaid design work. I should have known that folks on this
list would jump on my case for that. But I also thought about the
fact that reviewing previous winning designs might be a way to find a
designer or three that you might contact privately, for an individual
consultation. I supposed I could have saved myself grief if I'd
written a longer post and explained that.
Does anyone on the list know of a web sight that lists working
designers? Is there a professional organization for professional
designers that has listings where you can locate designers in your
area?
That would have been more helpful for the OP.
