INFO: SQUIDDS FINALYSER - How to work with FrameMaker 10
and TCS3 even more efficiently
Technical Writers working with the Adobe Technical Communication Suite
or FrameMaker appreciate the benefits of an integrated software
environment: the smooth coordination of the individual components 'Ae`
i
FrameMaker, RoboHelp, Captivate, Photoshop and Acrobat 'Ae`i is a deci
sive
factor for simplifying and speeding up the workflow within technical
documentation. The German company SQUIDDS, based in Nuremberg, is a
recognized specialist for automation solutions in the field of
technical documentation. SQUIDDS had already developed a set of
plug-ins for earlier versions of the Technical Communication Suite.
This plug-in collection made it possible to automate almost completely
complex and time-consuming routine procedures such as editing books,
documents, formats, elements and graphics as well as transfer and
conversion processes. TOOLBOX forNOTAE FrameMaker has been very popula
r
among its users until today as it significantly increases the handling
comfort and the efficiency of Adobe's documentation software.
Especially developed for the current versions of FrameMaker 10 and
Technical Communication Suite 3, SQUIDDS launched an updated version o
f
its plug-in collection extended by the functionalities of
ExtendedScripts in the beginning of 2011: FINALYSER. FINALYSER acts as
a perfect tie between Adobe Bridge, FrameMaker 10, Captivate, RoboHelp
,
Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. FINALYSER has been designed from
a
user-point-of-view it offers writers and designers various
possibilities to adapt the workflow according to their individual
needs. In all supported software components FINALYSER integrates a
standardized tool bar always offering the functionalities needed for
the current task. Thus FINALYSER eventually allows to edit graphics
directly from FrameMaker, saving them in different formats or to adapt
XML procedures. SQUIDDS' FINALYSER takes up the Technical Communicatio
n
Suite's concept of integration and continues it consistently.
FINALYSER shows its unique and strong performance when creating books,
doing book transfers and translations. Especially translation agencies
will profit from one of FINALYSER's powerful functionalities 'Ae`i
transferring FrameMaker documents including all referenced graphics an
d
text insets into different directories and converting them into MIF.
Additionally, it is possible to create several book PDFs with the exac
t
same PDF-settings comfortably. For documents dealing with topics in
mechanical engineering FINALYSER provides FrameMaker with an expansion
for the integration of 3D data complete with text links facilitating a
user-friendly ordering process. The comprehensive DITA support allows
furthermore to create complete books including table of contents, cove
r
and information of the edition directly from DITA-XML data.
Conclusion: SQUIDDS' FINALYSER makes editorial work with FrameMaker 10
and the Technical Communication Suite even more flexible, more
efficient and more comfortable. FINALYSER takes over many standardized
tasks thus the user gains more time for creative work on content and
for quality assurance.
