The problem is with FM's built-in "Save to PDF" function, specifically that function used to generate a CMYK PDF. When you use that, you aren't actually using your Adobe Acrobat installation. The PDF print driver and PDF creator plug-in installed with Acrobat both worked fine with FM9, and so far I've not heard of any new issues with FMX. You do, however, need to have Acrobat X for FMX. According to the Adobe website, Acrobat 9's PDF creator doesn't work with FMX

Did you try printing to the Adobe PDF printer instead of using Save As PDF? It's long-standing advice in the FM world that if Save As PDF is causing problems, try setting your printer to Adobe PDF and printing to it. If it still doesn't work, set your printer to Adobe PDF, print to a Postscript file (extension .ps), and then open that file with Distiller.
