IANAL but I would think the most minimalistic way would be to list
trademarks in the colophon and not use ® or ™ anywhere in the body.
But that's just me. If you wanted to create this list dynamically, you
could probably tag the trademark with attributes and filter on them
somehow.
I'd be interested in hearing what others _actually_ do.
