Subject:Word 2010 crashes when updating index From:"Jessica N Lange" <jlange -at- daetwyler-rd -dot- com> To:<techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com> Date:Fri, 29 Oct 2010 10:22:15 -0400
I've used MS Word for more than 10 years to create long manuals: one .doc for
each chapter, one for the TOC, and one for the Index, using {RD} fields for the
TOC and Index.
Now I'm using Word 2010 to update a manual created in Word 2007, and Word
crashes when I try to update the index (by pressing F9). Same thing happens on a
co-worker's computer, so it's not just my computer. Updating the TOC works
correctly.
If I create an Index in a document (for just that document) it works, so I know
my index entries are OK (and besides this all worked in Word 2007).
I've searched the web and social.answers.microsoft.com, & found no information.
Does anyone have any a similar problem? Any workarounds? I'd be grateful for any
advice. Thanks!
