Actually, that's a rule I use when working in a text editor or email client.
You can usually tell when an extra space will help, though now I'm just as
likely to start a new paragraph. People read email rapidly, so it's good to
start a new paragraph whenever you say something important -- assuming you
can't break the habit of including unimportant stuff in your email.

Speaking of breaking habits, I learned to type in the mid 1950s, I took a
while to break the double-space habit, but I've been over it for more than
20 years now. ...RM
