I think what he means is that after a week of work you have $1000 to
show for it, not $1000 to blow on a weekend or a side gig on the
weekends that pays $1000. That is, gross income per week. Then tax
man, rent man, food man, utilities man, and all other expenses man
cometh (never mind health insurance man or - gasp - COBRA man).
