I think Monique is looking for something that can be used more generically.
I deliberately held off answering because I don't think one word really sums
this up in all cases. You could say, 'media', but then that's way too broad.
And while 'video' limits the topic to visually animated media, it usually
refers to material recorded with a camera.
It may be better to select a specific word based on:
Type: Video, screencast, animation
Source: Video camera, web cam, screen capture software, animation
software
Format: Digitized video file (any encoding), flash player, flash video
