Yes, it is maddening when the solution doesn't just pop into your head, accompanied by a blinding flash of light. ;-)

Um, if you have the install CD/DVD, why not try installing it on a USB stick? Run setup.exe, point it to the USB stick, and see if it works. It's not like you're going to break something.

Alternatively, I bet you can just copy the files to the USB stick. I have SnagIt 6, which is so ancient that the Readme refers to Win 95/98 and NT 4. But that Readme.txt file also lists the files copied to my computer during installation, and I can tell from the descriptions that all I'd really need are the executable and a handful of DLLs to support text capture and the image file format(s) I want to output.

I suspect you can just copy SnagIt.exe and the supporting DLLs that you need to the USB stick, and it will work. Give it a try!
