Good advice. But there's a solution for the shortened-link problem. Go to www.longurlplease.com/ and grab either the Firefox extension or the bookmarklet. The latter should work in most browsers.

Maximum PC is the only computer mag I still subscribe to (I started way back when it was "boot"), and I don't fit their target demographic at all (young, gaming, bleeding-edge hardware afficionados). But they have the most honest reviews and lots of useful how-to articles, tips/tricks/hints, and pointers to stuff you can really use that you didn't know existed.
