Thank you to everyone who read and responded. It's good to know I'm not
alone. :) In the interests of time (my deadline is next week), I'll
leave the single-step procedures as they are, with a note on my to-do
list that they have to be re-written for the next iteration. I am also
going to have a long email discussion with my subcontractor (who is, as
several of you guessed, neither domestic nor a native English speaker)
regarding future work. His first question will be "what is the industry
standard"? When I finish laughing, I will cite all of you. :)
