Have you ever used a content management system? How did it perform?
***Considering one now.
Have you used any commercially available plugins for conditional text in MS Word? How well did they work for you?
***Yes. Really minor glitches.
If you have used these systems, what where their benefits and flaws?
***The conditional text saved a lot of time (writing and reviewing) and is really a good tool. A previous content management system we tried (and I assume this is a general problem with all) wasn't that useful once the shared portions have different variants.
About CMS software - in what situations do you think they are or are not useful?
***They are useful if you really have a lot of identical portions that go into many manuals
If you do not use a CMS or conditional text plugin, would you like to? What would you need to know about it to decide you?
***We are considering a CMS right now. To decide it's for us, we will test it on real material for a couple of month.
