I've worked with several different SDLCs in my time from the regular Waterfall to the U shaped, to specific ones that companies create on their own.

Most of the ones that I worked with didn't do much for the documentation side, though having requirements fleshed out before the actual system development began did a lot of wonders for the system actually working at the end. :-)

Ideally, not at all. Documentation structure and content derive from
user needs. These are independent of the development model.

In reality, development model affects both product and documentation,
because no model is truly user-driven. ...RM
