A classic experiment in some university psychology labs involved how
people perceive beer tastes.
It has been shown over and over again that within any given class of
beer, the ability to discern an exceptional beer from a much cheaper
one *after the first glass* diminishes rapidly.
Test subjects who claimed a discriminating palate when it came to beer
would be given a glass of their favorite. Then, refills (obviously
unknown to them) were with the "cheap stuff"). This substitution is
very rarely detected in the real world.
This means you can obviously save a great deal of cash with little
sensory difference if you tend to drink more than a single beer at one
