If I may play the part of your customer for a moment:

1) I don't need to see a copyright date, but I understand that you need
to show me one. In that case, I prefer to see a single copyright date
for the whole printed manual. I don't care if it says (c) 2009 or (c)
2009-2010 -- doesn't matter to me. But I really don't need to see two
separate copyright dates on a single printed manual.

2) I absolutely insist on seeing a single part number for the whole
printed manual. If I have to order another one, I don't want to have to
worry which part number to use to order it.

3) I don't care what the individual sections of the part number mean.

Happy Tuesday!
