TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I am always cautious, too, but Flare has the advantage that you can run multiple versions in parallel, so you can always switch back to the old version if required.
I am using Flare 6.0 now for about a week and I did a very thorough testing involving builds of targets, project imports, communication with Source Control (Team Foundation Server) and so far I could not find any problem or incompatibility.
* Communication with Source Control has been improved, especially concerning moving files.
* PDF generator has been greatly improved.
* The new icon design is nice, but not really relevant.
* The batch build targets sound ideal for our automated build process, but I didn't used them so far.
Best regards, Christine
