Weird experience this weekend. My wife showed me the instruction label on a
box of frozen food. I wear prescription lenses to correct for
near-sightedness, and I didn't have a problem reading it. My wife, on the
other hand, has perfect vision and couldn't read the words with any clarity.

The label was in 9pt type, black ink on a bright red-orange background.

I've known for a long time avoid alternating red and blue as text or
background. I never thought black on red would cause a problem, but my wife
was living proof that it did. Definitely makes a good case for widespread
user testing.

Cheers,
