This is more what I was getting at when I said it's their problem.
Don't "own" the problem emotionally if it's not your issue. I know
people whose reaction to being needled by someone at work is to spend
hours and hours trying to figure out what they did wrong, when the
answer is often times "You did nothing to deserve this."
Yes, address the problem. Stand up to the bully. If necessary, meet
with management and document the issue. If necessary for your health
and sanity, change jobs. But don't let the person into your head. If
you know you didn't deserve the treatment that you're getting, don't
agonize over what you did or said to bring it down on you. You can't
apply the rules of logic to illogical behavior, so don't even try.
It is SO not worth the stress you will cause yourself.
