Yes, that's true, but effectively, when you remove a default, you are setting it to None. None has meaning in this context. None is a valid choice, and appears in the interface elsewhere on a menu labelled "Default Configuration." I think part of the problem with this is that None is a valid choice, but is not presented to the user. 

I like check/no checkmark myself, but they're not used anywhere in the interface. 

Remove as Default seems like an easy change for them to make. I'm going to try for that, but also file a usability bug on not having None available.
