Not just "these days".  Nouns have been getting used as verbs forever, and -- "verbing weirds nouns" cartoons notwithstanding -- the usage usually goes unnoticed.

For example... Just looking around my office, I see my schedule, a pencil, a table and chair, a telephone, a roll of tape, a stapler, pushpins: Schedule a meeting, pencil me in, table this discussion, chair a meeting, telephone your mother, tape this up, staple these papers together, pin them to the wall.
