Why is it that, after decades of operating system improvements, I still find it refreshing to read old manuals that assume you really want to know how a computer works instead of just blindly clicking icons?

Computers make great tools, but even greater hobbies. The article makes me want to dig out my old Commodore 64 and re-read the manual.
