I started out as a documentation specialist, too (after two years as a
Software Technician; i.e., tech support). That was the title my predecessor
chose. I was Gene's #2, a lone writer. A year later, there was a
compensation study and I got bumped to Senior Documentation Specialist.

A few jobs later, and now I'm a Document Architect -- and again a lone
writer!
